Rough Description of job scopes
The below opportunities are jobs that we are likely to get depending on the deployment by the in-charge. (It will be known to you once the information are given)
Volunteering opportunities:
· Route Marshal
· Drinks Station Staff
Route Marshal
As a Route Marshal, your job responsibilities include:
a) Provide general direction of the run to the runners when stationed at your designated point.
b) Ensure that the runners are running on safe and unimpeded course.
(i.e. ensure that there is no intrusion of public vehicles and/or pedestrian traffic except for authorized race vehicles and personnel allowed on the course)
c) Advise motorists on what is happening, why the roads are closed and what times the road are likely to open. Where possible, suggest alternative routes.
d) Be alert for the runners requiring medical assistance during the course of their run and guide these individuals to a safe area away from the race proceedings before medical aid arrives.
Drinks Station Staff
As a Drinks Station Staff, your job responsibilities include:
a) Ensure there are adequate drinks at your appointed water station and continuously refill drinks, whenever necessary.
b) Hand out drinks to the runners in a safe and professional manner so as to minimize disruption to their race.
c) Ensure area around the water station is free of used bottles and undertake to clear as much used bottles away from the race course as possible.
d) Pack unused drinks back into cartons and place them at the side of your drinks station.
As frontline staff, you are expected to:
a) Wear your official race clothing at all times so that athletes and officials can recognize you.
b) Support, cheer and spur the runners on during their run.
Your cheers will help make their run ‘easier’.
