SP-STAR


Have you ever realized that Taufik Batisah, who was crowned the winner of the first season of the Singapore Idol, who scored a recording deal with Sony BMG and a management deal under Hype Records' artiste management arm and even released albums in Malaysia, had graduated from Singapore Polytechnic?

Have you ever realized that Khairul Anuar, the winner of Suria's TV singing contest Anugerah in 2005, who had performed exceedingly well in Singapore 2006 National Day Parade, and in due course became a full-time artiste with MediaCorp TV12, was a graduate of Singapore Polytechnic?

Have you ever realized that Kelly Poon, who emerged from Project SuperStar, a Chinese singing competition organized by Mediacorp and broadcasted on Chanel U, who secured a recording deal with Universal Music and currently based in Taiwan releasing her 3rd album, was also a graduate of Singapore Polytechnic?


Students and alumni have shown that they have what it takes to make a mark in not only the local music industry but in the other Asia music industries as well.

Many potential singers are hidden in the midst of Singapore Polytechnic population. Therefore we urge you to join us in this year’s much anticipated SP STAR that will be held on Thursday, 26 November 2009, 5pm @ Singapore Convention Centre to unveil the next Taufik, Khairul or Kelly!

SP Star is our poly-wide singing competition, where the top 2 winners of the 9 individual academic school singing competitions will represent their school as they compete to be crowned the champion of SP Star- 2009.

All SP Star contestant would be given a chance to 3-day workshop will be conducted by external professional instructors to prepare and train them for this up-coming performance.

Judges for this competition are renowned personalities from the local music and entertainment industry. All proceeds from the sale of tickets, which are priced at $2 each, would be donated to the Singapore Cancer Society and Simei Care Centre.

On top of the singing competition, you get to watch SP Cheer competition as part SP Star programme this year.

Who will be the next Star and win the top prize of $1000? Which school will have the bragging rights and get to keep the SP Star crystal challenge trophy for a year? What is SP Cheer all about?
